The project in Yorkshire was completed in 2018 as a home for four young people.
The young people and their families were at the centre of this project. From designing the house and making sure it was accessible for them to commissioning support from a provider.
Having the right support was really important to the people involved in this project. By leading on setting up their own supported living they had more control over their support. They kept on support workers and personal assistants they had good relationships with and supplemented their staff team with handpicked staff from a support provider. Being involved in staff recruitment has made sure the support works for everyone.
JMS Trust funding was one of several funders from this project. We provided funding for flooring throughout the house, furnishings and crockery in communal areas, as well as furnishings for the sleep in room for staff.
